The mission of Mutt Be Love is to help dog owners meet the mental, emotional, and social needs of their dogs and to teach owners how to bring out the best in their dogs.
Dogs are among the greatest of blessings that God has bestowed upon us because they enrich our lives in so many ways. They are intelligent companions who exhibit a wide range of emotions and give us unconditional love and acceptance. They also give us a personal connection with nature. It has even been proven that they reduce stress in humans just by being there.
Sadly, some these wonderful blessings experience problems. Some of them become hyperactive, unruly, and uncontrollable. Others become destructive. Still others become fearful, anti-social, or even aggessive. Somehow, some of our fluffy blessings are transormed into hairy curses.
How does this happen? Abuse? Neglect? Bad breeding? Although these problems may sometimes be attributed to abuse, neglect, or bad breeding, they are most often caused by certain needs not being met.
Besides the obvious food, water, and shelter, dogs need physical and mental exercise every day of their lives. They need to be trained; ideally, they should receive a little bit of training each day throughout their lives. They need to be taught what is expected of them, what behaviors are acceptable, and what behaviors are not acceptable. Dogs also need continuous socialization with other dogs, other animals, and humans throughout their lives. Of course, they also need to love and be loved.
Simply meeting a dog's needs can prevent or correct the majority of behavior problems in most dogs. However, among the biggest challenges are not knowing exactly what the dog needs and not knowing how to meet those needs. The good news is that Mutt Be Love is here to help. Mutt Be Love offers information, a podcast, an interactive forum, and basic dog training services, all of which are geared toward helping dog owners identify and meet their dogs' needs.
The podcast is hosted by Mutt Be Love dog trainer Greg Farmer. Podcast topics range from humorous anecdotes to philosophical musings to dog training and behavior issues. The overall direction of the podcast has not yet been decided, and listener response and questions asked will be major factors in determining its direction.
From time to time, listeners will be encouraged to submit questions for Greg to answer on the podcast. Watch the pet forum or the Mutt Be Love Podcast page for updates.
