Mutt Be Love dog trainer Greg Farmer has always loved dogs. When he was a baby, first learning to speak, he thought every animal was a dog. If he was riding in the car and saw a cow or a horse grazing in a field, he would point at the animal and say, "Doggie!" Although he has since learned to distinguish dogs from other kinds of animals, he still believes that his love for dogs is encoded in his DNA and hard-wired into his brain; that is, he believes that God made him that way and intended for him to love dogs.
Although he was not allowed to have dogs while he was growing up, and was never really even encouraged to love them, his love for them could never be quenched. Eventually, he found opportunities to work directly with dogs through animal shelters and rescue organizations. Since then, he has learned how to interact with them and connect with them on a deep, personal level. In time, his love for dogs grew into a passion, and Mutt Be Love is a manifestation of that passion.
At this time, Greg owns a German Shepherd / Heeler cross named Jessie and a Chinese Crested Powderpuff named Sara. He also is currently fostering a Dachshund named Sadie.
Since he started volunteering with animal shelters and rescues, Greg has worked with and trained literally hundreds of dogs. Some of them were hyperactive and unruly, while others were fearful or aggressive. Although a few dogs unfortunately did not respond to his training, the vast majority of them responded very well. Some otherwise unadoptable dogs were transformed into playful, loving, and affectionate pets under Greg's firm but gentle guidance.
Greg has spent countless hours studying the canine behavior theories and dog training techniques from the published works of some of the world's leading dog trainers and behaviorists including Brenda Aloff, Jean Donaldson, Temple Grandin, and many others. He has worked with established dog trainers and practiced a variety of different training techniques on the rescue dogs he has worked with. Greg developed Mutt Be Love's dog training programs during this long process of studying, practicing, and observing the responses of the dogs he has worked with.
