It's so hard when you don't know what is going on but looking at the pics Tolly looks quite content.

I agree with you going to Cornell instead of major surgery as its gotta be better for Tolly that way.

Fingers crossed that things turn out not to quite as bad as they seem.

update on Tolly

Postby lovetimesfour » Mon Apr 26, 2010 10:20 pm

Hi everyone. My vet decided to put Tolly boy on a 2 week course of Baytril. It was kind of a shot in the dark, but looks like it hit the target. It's been a little over a week since he finished the antibiotics, and he has filled out nicely. His fat pad is back and he is sleek and glowing, bright eyes, tons of energy.

Here is Tolly enjoying the new toy I bought for them on a day trip I took to Bennington VT two weeks ago. Also a picture of him stalking the squirrel at the bird feeder on the porch, you can see how nicely he is filled out again.

Oh Happy Day!

Great news! Tolly had his three month check up and blood work this week. His liver values have returned to normal!

I didn't get to speak to my vet, she left a message on my machine. What this means is that the reduction in phenobarbital, the two week course of antibiotics, and six months on the Denosyl have all done their jobs.

I do not know what it means with regards to continuing the Denosyl, until I talk to my vet next week. Since Tolly will never be able to stop taking the Phenobarbital, I am guessing he will have to stay on the Denosyl, but perhaps we can reduce the dose a little. Not that he minds, he's so used to pills he just waits for me to give them to him when it's time for one. but my wallet wouldn't mind a cut back.

I just snapped this pic

That is great news. I am glad Tolly is doing well. He certainly looks healthy, happy, and alert.

Thanks Greg. Tolly will stay on the Denosyl for now. New blood work in 4 months, then reevaluate.
