Special Pet Memories

Let's See How many special memories of our pet's past and present we can come up with. :D

Here is one about a real special kitty who is no longer with me, but one I could never forget. His name was Mataeo and I got him when he was 6 wks. old. I actually watched him be born and he was different from all the rest. He was the runt, but oh so cute. Any ways Mataeo was a prowler, he was fixed but he still liked to roam. Sometimes he would stay gone for a couple of days at a time which at first use to bother me but after awhile I got use to it because he always came home after a couple of days. Well one time those two days went by and he did not come home, I didn't worry at first, but after 3, then 4 days I was terrified. There are all kinds of bad things around her were I live, like big raccoons, coyotes, big skunks as well as lots of dogs. Of course we looked for him, called him constantly and asked around but no luck. Then 5, then 6 days went by and still no Mataeo. Oh I was so frantic and upset, I had never had a cat that stayed with me for more than a couple of years without dying or an evil stepdad to quietly made it disappear cause he didn't like it, so he was very special to me. Of course after being gone for that long I thought the worse. :D Then came that 7th day, that morning when I got up I had this feeling, something told me to look outside, so of course I did and there next door on the neighbors porch was my Mataeo. I called him and slowly he came to me, which of course was when I noticed something wasn't right. He was a little beat up and his back leg was extremely swollen and bleeding. Something had attacked my baby, but he still made it home to me. It took hime awhile but he made it. :P I cleaned him up, whatever it was was big. We never knew what it was, but he heeled up just fine. I am including a picture of my baby who I will never forget.

I remember how when I took Mr Jake to Pugneys Lake for a walk how we used to sit on the grass together usually early morning about 7am.

If it was a nice day, (you know warm with sunshine, remember that?) we used to walk part way round the lake then sit on the grass and watch the boats and the birds.
Jake would cuddle up beside me and we would just enjoy the quiet.

I miss those days with him, he was my best friend and like my right arm.

I was so proud when the kids that came to the lake with their schools would see him and comment on how big he was, his marking and the size of his feet & ears then cautiously ask if they could stroke him.

He was so layed back.

We had something like this on the old forum..Im going to have to scan some pics on my computer that were there before my hard disk got wiped clean. I hope other people think about posting on here..I know it kinda brings back sad times to post about our pets that have gone over to Rainbow Bridge, but its also honoring their memories too, by telling stories about them and posting pics. So lets get this thread going!!

You are so right and I can't wait to hear some of your pet stories Janet. I also hope the other's will post, that was the whole reason I started it. Now that I have more time on my hands I will be able to post some more. I also have to scan my pictures onto the computer so it is time consuming.

This was my baby Samantha. When I was 18 years old, I was walking to the bus stop one day on my way to school. It was early in the morning and I use to cut thru this field to get to the street where the bus stop was. I was walking by this huge bush and I kept hearing this tiny little meow, more like a distress meow so I stopped and went and looked where I thought it was coming from and low and behold there in the bush was this little itty bitty kitten. She wasn't more than 4 wks old. Somebody had just left her there. So I being the animal lover that I am picked her up and took her home. I was still living with my mom at the time so I talked her into letting me keep her. Since she was so young I would have to give her warm milk every morning and every night. I had her for about 4 years until I had to give her up because my husband and I moved from my moms house to an apartment and she did not take well to that because she was use to being able to go outside and where we moved to was not a safe place for kitties to be outside and she started spraying and potting in the apartment. It was the hardest thing I had ever had to do.

I was remembering the other day how Mr Jake used to go to bed after his tea so we always had to make sure we put his bed down in our room. He would also go to bed if we had visitors and it was to noisy for him.

Also how on a weekend I used to get up at 6am to give him his tablets for which he didn't even wake up then try to get him to go out for a wee as he was a litle incontanent so if didn't would wet slightly. after this we used to go straight back to bed.

On September 9, 2009 it was three years ago that my precious Snowbunnie died suddenly. We still miss her and I still choke up when I talk about her or look at her pictures. I don't think I'll ever get over her and miss her every single day. She was so loved. I still have the 24 inch tall trophy she won at a SPCA sponsered dog show and she won best in show and she was only 6 inches tall. The newspaper cameraman couldn't get Snowbunnie and her trophy in the shot so my daughter had to hold Snowbunnie so he could take the shot. I wish I could find the article. If I do I'll post it to this. For those of you that don't remember me talking about Snowbunnie on other forums she was probaly the world's smallest dog (never had Guiness look at her). She only weighed 22 oz. at her death (9 years) and was 6 1/2 inches tall and 9 inches from nose to tail and she was a Maltese. She didn't weigh over 15 oz. until she was 7 yrs old. I wish I could post a picture of her here, but I don't know how to attach photos from my desktop.

I wasn't sure what happen, but I fixed it. Hopefully they stay this time. That's the bad thing about photobucket all you have to do is move your pics to a different album or something and it will mess up your posts.

I remember that as big as Dylan was. at times it was easier to share a sofa with him than Gracie. This was because Dylan tended to hang over the arm of the sofa where as Gracie loves to sprawl out.

It was funny how he could tuck his front feet up under his front so they didn't keep sliding off the sofa. LOL
